Let’s just face it there is no one, I repeat, no one in this world who does not aspire for happiness. Now that we are in agreement, let me get to the point of why this post has been created. Even though we all have our own definitions of happiness, we pursue it differently (maybe) but the end goal always stays the same- happiness.
I thought it was a brilliant idea to walk on the path towards happiness by constantly focusing on achieving it each day. She would be keeping a log to ensure her goals are met each month and then reflect on her experiences and lessons learnt. How courageous! Personally, I feel it’s a daunting task, considering that some of us do get our bouts of insanity that shudders the center of our being (personal experience). So keeping one happy for all the days of a year obviously is challenging.
But, as they say, if one makes up their mind to achieve something then they often achieve what they set out to do.
Since a year of promise seemed a bit unnerving, I personally took up a 100-day project for myself. The project asks of us to focus on the little things that make us happy each day and document them along the way. It does not ask of us to work on a plan but inspires us to find bliss in mundane things. I hopped on to this because I think I still am not ready for a bigger project like what Corinne has on hand (again, I think she’s so brave to be doing it!). So for me, its baby steps, first!
Happiness is elusive for many, so when I saw this advert saying ‘Can you be happy for 100 days in a row?’ I was taken aback. I guess, I never really thought about it, ever. Why would someone want to join it? Why would I want to join it? Am I not happy? The question kept nagging me while I was working in the kitchen, filing reports in the office, listening to music while traveling…it kept haunting me for at least a day and a half and finally, I enrolled. I enrolled because I wanted to know how I could change mundane stuff into something special each day. It’s not like a challenge to run a marathon or climb Everest but it does ask of us to look for happiness each day- a reason to smile and then capture it as a memo.
I am still not sure how far I would be able to take it. I feel that keeping myself up to task would be tough for 100 days. More than that, I feel, would I be able to find happiness each day? I guess. I don’t know yet. I would know once I complete the 100 days. But I am still hopeful that I would succeed. After all, pursuing is the direct route to achieving-right?
In case you would like to join #100happydays, log onto their site and enroll. It’s simple and all one has to do is post their ‘happy’ picture on facebook/twitter/instagram. In case you’re not game to share on social media, you can also e-mail it to them. At the end of the 100 days, you might get a collage of all your 100 ‘happy’ things.
I loved Corinne’s Happiness Project and this 100happydays that you are doing. A fantastic way to celebrate life. As they say, it is all in the mind. If we consciously decide to be happy, we will be happy. They say it takes 21 days to form a habit so with 100 days, you would have it in your system to be happy! Way to go, Kajal. 🙂
Thanks Shilpa. I hope I am able to complete the project 🙂
I have seen this 100 days project on a lot of people’s blogs and Fb tls. Well I think its a fabulous idea! And you have our wholehearted support. Who knows perhaps one day we are the source of your happiness 🙂
YOu sure are a source of my happiness Richa…all Wters, butI simply can’t capture that in a picture. Maybe one day, I a will 🙂
Awesome Kajal, am sure you will easily succeed in the 100dayhappiness project and go on to participate in The Happiness Project as well 😀 Here’s wishing you all the very best for both of them 🙂
Thanks Jairam…I hope I complete this and then only I will think of participating in the other one. 🙂
Nevertheless, appreciate your encouragement.
That is so cool! I wish you all the best on your journey to happiness! ♥
Thanks so much Kathy!
Am glad to be back as well!
Now that’s interesting. I read about Corinne’s happiness project and I agree with you; she is very courageous. You’ve gone with a 100 days. If I ever do it, I’ll begin with 21 days. And then we’ll see where it goes. 🙂
All the happiness to you for the next 100 days… and beyond. 🙂
Thanks so much Dagney…so join in at this 100 day s project and see if you can manage for 21 days at least. It would be fun!
Also, thanks for your wishes!
You’re tempting me to hop on …. 😉
…and you must join in…its fun 🙂
I read at Corinne’s space and now yours…it looks so much fun and it would be interesting to take up this happiness project! I would love to see the collage of 100 happy pics!!
Yup Aditi…I am hoping it would turn out fine. And I am hoping I am able to complete 100 days 🙂
Thanks, why don’t you join in too ?
I was wondering what this tag was about! Thank you for sharing Kajal. I might just pick up this one too. I think I need to find ways to be happy for 100 days at least. 🙂
Yeah, and you must. I think its a nice way of reminding oneself to look for happiness around us. Do this 🙂 Good luck!
May you be happy not just for 100 days but for all the 365 days of the year. My best wishes with you. And hey, please do share the collage as soon as you receive it at the end of the challenge. 🙂
Yeah will do that, Rekha. Thanks for all your wishes too 🙂
I read somewhere that there is a Happiness gene. Health, self worth, happiness of loved ones all contribute towards my happiness. Though it is tough to be happy 24/7 for hundred days at a stretch, one can always try.
That’s right…what’s the harm in trying. Thanks for coming by 🙂
What a great idea. Am very tempted to join up 🙂
And do that please…I think its superb!
Great idea! I hope to be happy not just for 100 days, but everyday!
Sure, who does’nt but this is just a start to ensure each day we look out from something that brings a smile 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
It’s an awesome project to quantify happiness. Still, the tricky question is how do we weigh happiness and what counts for ultimate happiness? 100 days is good stuff that shall pave the way for life long happiness. cheerz, Kajal:)
Hopefully so too, Vishal. Its just a way to find happiness in the simple little things each day. Sometimes the mundane of things are ignored but if we find quality, we can. hence this project!
wow this looks very interesing..I am almost tempted to join… I am sure your happiness journey will be awesome,,afterall this is one journey where definitely journey is the reward
That’s true, Apoorva. I think you must join in as well 🙂 It would be fun!
I love the idea of the happiness project. Too many people dwell on the negative- life is too short!
That’s right…so it better to make the best of the days we have! Have a happy day, too!
This is a cool project but right now I am not able to click and upload every day but the 100 happy things and collage are all quite interesting

Happy New year Afshan. Glad you could come by.
Hopefully this will turn out fine!
Happiness is a choice….we can still be happy when we’re in the worst of circumstances and automatically makes them better. Thanks do sharing!
That’s true, happiness is indeed a choice….and I believe I chose to be happy this way 🙂
I wish you all the best. I loved the title of your post ” In pursuit of happiness”. It’s all about being happy – so many times we miss this important point………yes, it’s all about being happy within. I have my thinking cap on now…
Thanks Poornima. I hope this works, really! So, how are you pursuing happiness?
Wishing you well this year!
A couple of weeks ago I had a strange dream where I received many messages from the Universe. One of them was “Happiness is not a pursuit, it is a state of being”. If you try to find it, it will be elusive. Instead intend just to feel happiness. You can do it Kajal.
I was also inspired by Corinne’s project but even 100 days seem daunting for me. All the luck to you. Hope you manage to pull through 🙂
thanks for the link.. bookmarked it.. but one at a time for me.. started UBC first.. let it get into a routine… then the daily photo.. 🙂 happy blogging..!
You go, pal! Even I am on UBC, but its okay to put up one pic a day, besides the UBC…try it…it would be fun 🙂
